Honour for dog heroes
WHILE it was all in the line of duty for firefighters Paul Beck and Carlos Toman, animal lovers thought otherwise.
The heartwarming rescue of American staffy, Micky, stranded on a cliff at Currumbin Valley for seven nights, touched so many hearts that animal welfare organisation PETA have awarded the pair with the Hero To Animals Award.
Station officer Paul Beck said he was very surprised.
“I was just doing my job,” he said. “Firefighters help the community when they can... and with things outside the box, this was one of those times.”
