THIS POT OF GOODNESS A SWEET DEAL

- KRISTY MUIR

WINNIE the Pooh, eat your heart out.

Since its opening at the The Star Casino in January 2016, the Garden Kitchen & Bar’s most popular dessert has been a sumptuous Honeycomb Cheesecake, served in a golden honey pot.

The Star Gold Coast’s executive chef Dustin Osuch told the Gold Coast Bulletin it was the pot itself that actually inspired the dish.

“Not only is it a vibrant yellow honey pot, it also has a bee design on it – so naturally, the honeycomb flavour was an easy choice,” he said.

“It is made with sweetened quark, honeycomb, biscuit crumble and crumiel wafer, which is the crystallised honey you see at the top of the dish.

“This adds an element of molecular gastronomy to the dish and another way we incorporate the honey flavour.”

Mr Osuch said cheesecake was quite a traditional dessert but The Star wanted to take a different approach to this before adding it to the menu.

“We think it’s great when our guests take a photo of their meal as a way to share their experience with their family and friends,” he said.
