LIFETIME HEALTH COVER PENALTIES

• Introduced in July 2000. • Applies to anyone over 30 years old taking out health insurance for the first time. • For each year over 30, a 2 per cent penalty is added to the cost of the private health insurance premium up to a maximum of 70 per cent.
