Massive Turbo boost for NSW squad

- DEAN RITCHIE

HE has only been back a week but Manly’s Tom Trbojevic is today poised to take another giant leap forward in his prospering career.

Trbojevic is set to be drafted into NSW’s extended 20-man squad as the Blues look to win this year’s State of Origin se- ries against Queensland at ANZ Stadium on Wednesday week. Blues coach Laurie Daley and chief adviser Peter Sterling have discussed naming Trbojevic alongside older brother Jake, who will retain his place on the interchange bench for Origin II.

Daley is desperately hoping his players can avoid injury and suspension as this NRL round comes to a close so he can name an unchanged lineup for a game in which the Blues could take a 2-0 lead and clinch the series.

NSW captain Boyd Cordner was a late withdrawal for the Sydney Roosters in their win over the Wests Tigers, but he will be fit to lead the Blues on Wednesday week. For Game One, Daley named Jordan McLean, Matt Moylan and Jack de Belin as his three extra reserves.

But Melbourne forward McLean is unavailable after he fractured his cheekbone. Rather than replace McLean with another forward, NSW will turn to Trbojevic.
