Bidders vie for Bishop

-

THE chance to party with Foreign Minister Julie Bishop in LA is proving popular among bidders in an online auction – but a wine and a chat with Opposition Leader Bill Shorten and his deputy Tanya Plibersek is proving to be a hard sell.

The chance to travel to the US with Ms Bishop has so far attracted the highest bid in the Canberra Press Gallery MidWinter Ball charity auction.

The top bid for the prize was yesterday standing at $26,100 on eBay. The package includes two Qantas business class seats to LA, two nights’ accommodation, two tickets to the G’Day USA Gala Ball and a Warner Bros Studio tour.

Afternoon tea with Malcolm Turnbull and a tour of the prime minister’s official residence had a high bid of $9200. But there were no takers to meet Mr Shorten and Ms Plibersek at Parliament House.
