Always a full house Bingo fans packing out clubs

- MEGAN BIROT

IF you ever can’t get hold of Bev Johnstone don’t worry, she’s probably at Bingo.

The Tugun retiree attends Currumbin RSL Bingo games religiously every Monday, Wednesday and Friday where she catches up with other keen players and sometimes yells BINGO!

“You either love it or hate it but for me I just love everything about it, especially when I win money,” she said.

“I’ve got to be really sick to miss Bingo.

“It’s also a cheap way to get out of the house for a few hours for $20.”

Ms Johnstone, who has played Bingo for the last 50 years, said the game was pure- ly based on the luck of the draw. “Sometimes I get really lucky and I get all the numbers and that’s when you yell bingo,” she said. “Then there are times I am not lucky but it’s still a great game.”

Currumbin RSL Duty Manager Leanne Harry said the social aspect of Bingo attracted various crowds to the club.

“A lot of families come here for a few games,” she said.

“It’s not just for older people, we get singles too who come to meet new people.”
