Thief a real work of art

POLICE are searching for an art-loving thief who tried to run away with an $8000 painting which he took off the wall of a winery before dashing outside with the canvas.

Officers say the man was on a tour at the Chapel Farm Winery, in Perth’s Swan Valley, about 5.30pm on Saturday when he grabbed the artwork and ran out the door.

He was chased by staff, who managed to take the nowdamaged painting from him but they could not restrain him and he got away.
