ADAM Scott has gained a crucial confidence boost ahead of this week’s US Open by surging up the leaderboard in the final round of the St Jude Classic in Memphis.

The Gold Coaster shot a twounder-par 68 to finish at six under in an eight-way tie for 10th.

He was four shots behind American Daniel Berger, who successfully defended his title thanks to his second straight 66 in the final round.

Scott’s tournament highlight was a six-under 64 in the second round.
