Law clerk loses appeal

-

GOLD Coast law clerk Jacob Reichman has lost an appeal to have his conviction for engaging in legal practice when not entitled set aside.

Mr Reichman, who is barrister Chris Rosser’s clerk, was convicted and fined $1500 following a two-day trial in the Brisbane Magistrates Court in August 2016 after pleading not guilty.

He later appealed the sentence and conviction but it was yesterday upheld by the Brisbane District Court.

The court previously found he had attended police interviews with clients, and given them legal advice and signed a form claiming to be a solicitor.

Mr Reichman has a law degree from Bond University and has completed his Diploma of Legal Practice but has not yet been admitted to practice.
