Ex-hospital GM passes
FORMER Gold Coast Hospital general manager and prominent Burleigh businessman John Miles has died following a battle with Parkinson’s disease.
Granddaughter Mollie Miles said Mr Miles, 77, passed away peacefully on Monday at his Burleigh home.
As well as his stint as boss of the old hospital in Southport between 1983 and 1993, many knew Mr Miles and his wife Lorraine as they held the management rights to popular Burleigh holiday apartment complex Oceanside Cove.
“He died peacefully is his sleep holding Nan’s hand,” Ms Miles said.
“He was in a wheelchair towards the end so we are all saying he’s standing up in heaven now looking down on us.”
The father of three and grandfather to five will be laid to rest at the Mt Gravatt Cemetery and Crematorium at MacGregor in Brisbane at 2pm on Monday.
The family would like to extend an open invitation to people whose lives were touched by Mr Miles to attend.
