- AMY PRICE

CHANNEL 9 sports presenter Sam Squiers was rushed to hospital in an Uber and delivered her baby almost eight weeks early after two days of “agonising” labour.

The sports reporter was moved from the intensivecare unit at Brisbane’s Mater Private Hospital yesterday after she gave birth to her 1.3kg daughter – Imogen Grace Squiers – on Tuesday, 32 weeks into her pregnancy.

The first-time mother shared the news on social media, describing how she was rushed to hospital by an Uber driver. Squiers shared a photo showing her first skin- to-skin contact with Imogen, who was hooked up to a breathing apparatus,.

“That moment after two agonising days that you finally get to see and hold the most precious and fragile thing on Earth!” she wrote alongside the photo. “You are our world little one & proving to be such a fighter already. Big thanks from Ben & I to our amazing OB Dr Meagan Castner, the miracle workers at the Mater Neonatal Critical Care Unit for looking after Immy.”

“Oh and not forgetting Steve the Uber driver that ran the red light to get me to hospital so quickly in the early hours of Tuesday.”
