Eade says Suns fate rests in own hands

-

SUNS coach Rodney Eade says the fate of Gold Coast’s season is in their control as he looks to drive the side towards the finals.

Gold Coast have clawed their way back into finals contention after battling through a tough early draw.

They sit 13th on the ladder at 5-6 and within four points of fifth placed Port Adelaide.

For the first time in recent memory Gold Coast will take an unchanged team into tomorrow’s Round 13 game against Carlton at Metricon Stadium.

The Gold Coast will only run into two sides currently inside the top eight during their remaining games for the regular season.

But many of those the teams they will face are in a similar position to the Suns, scrapping for a shot at finals.

“We have a lot of teams in and around us now so it’s in our control what we do and how we go about it,” Eade said.

Eade has a surprisingly healthy playing list at his disposal but many, including cocaptain Tom Lynch, are yet to hit top gear for the season.

Noticeable improvement from the club’s lesser lights have enabled the Suns to chalk up some win while some of their stars find form.

“There is a lot of improvement in some individuals,” Eade said.

“A few of those players were talked about in regards to what’s best for them going forward, is it best to go back into the seconds?

“They were struggling a little bit. But having a chat to them individually I thought it was best to stick with them.”
