Goldstein tipped to remain a Roo

AFL games record holder Brent Harvey has backed his former North Melbourne teammate Todd Goldstein to return to his 2015 All-Australian form, saying he would be shocked if the ruckman wasn’t at Arden St next year.

Goldstein has been floated as a possible trade option for the Kangaroos at season’s end after a modest season to date and with ruck hopefuls Braydon Preuss and Majak Daw waiting in the wings.

But Harvey insisted Goldstein, 29 next month, still had plenty to offer the Kangaroos.

“I don’t think the ‘Gold Man’ is going anywhere,” Harvey said of the All-Australian ruckman.

“If the Kangaroos end up chasing a Josh Kelly or someone else like that, they may have to give something up.”

“But I am not too sure Goldy would want to leave the football club and I am not too sure the club would want to give him up.

“I know people have been talking about Braydon Preuss and Majak Daw, but Goldy was the best ruckman in the competition 12 months ago.”

Goldstein shared the ruck duties with Preuss in the first four rounds.
