WITH THIS JOKE, I THEE WED

- KRISTY MUIR

WRAPPED up in a lavender veil Shane Vincent doesn’t take himself too seriously.

This is the reason the comedian-cum-wedding celebrant is having the last laugh.

The Coolangatta man has wedded 180 couples over the past two years and 2018 is almost booked out.

“I call it love, laughter and legals,” Mr Vincent, 36, said.

“I put a lot of humour into the ceremonies, it alleviates the pressure.

“I am willing to try anything ... I have dressed up as Elvis and been asked to dress up as Gandalf for an upcoming wedding. I also like to be creative and write a ceremony from scratch.”

Mr Vincent fell into being a celebrant after witnessing his mate – the groom – get called the wrong name numerous times throughout his wedding. “I said: ‘I could do a better job than that,” Mr Vincent said. So, he went to a wedding expo in March 2015 and ended up booking 30 weddings on the day.
