Hanson’s tough talk
PAULINE Hanson has demanded teachers wield more discipline in their classrooms and failing students repeat grades, ahead of crucial talks with the Federal Government over contentious school funding reforms.
The One Nation leader, who will meet with Education Minister Simon Birmingham today, has also told Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull more money for schools needed to be tied to better discipline.
The Government, which will pump an extra $18 billion into schools in the next decade, is negotiating with The Greens and other crossbenchers to pass Gonski 2.0, which will be brought on for debate on Wednesday. Labor is refusing to support the new model.
