Newley eyes redemption

BRAD Newley will never forget the day he missed out on the Boomers squad for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Almost 12 months on, Newley gets his shot at redemption after being selected in a 20-man Boomers squad for a camp on the Gold Coast next month to prepare for the FIBA Asia Cup in Lebanon from August 8-20.

The veteran swingman was one of four Sydney players selected alongside skipper Kevin Lisch, Jason Cadee and recruit Todd Blanchfield. A team of 12 will be selected after the camp.
