Fined for cop attack

A GOLD Coast University Hospital theatre technician who confessed to assaulting two police officers outside a nightclub has been slapped with a $700 fine.

Tauryn Gustav Laurenson, 25, pleaded guilty yesterday to two counts of assaulting a police officer in a public place while affected by alcohol relating to an incident in Surfers Paradise on March 19.

The court heard police were trying to speak with a woman who was with Laurenson outside Shooters Nightclub in the early hours of the morning but she kept trying to walk away.

When police tried to detain the woman, Laurenson stepped in and pushed one of the officers to the throat and punched the other.
