A DAY IN THE LIFE OF BOROBI

-

With the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games just around the corner, we caught up with Borobi the mascot to chat reality TV and meeting the Queen. BOROBI the famous blue koala, who loves catching waves before work, has been in the spotlight. But he insists he’s just an ordinary koala living an extraordinary life. Today, Borobi dishes on some of the coolest things he’s done since arriving on the Gold Coast.

On social media ... I love social media because it means I can stay in touch with fans and I love a good selfie. I’m a laidback kind of koala. It’s OK for people to have an opinion but I just go back and let them know there’s no place for hate. We’re the friendly Games and honestly, who wants to smack talk a cute blue koala? Hashtag haters gonna hate. A lot of people online are trying to ship me with Matilda (Brisbane’s 1982 mascot) but no love interest at the moment. If Channel 7 is looking for a good looking koala for their next season of First Dates, here I am.

On Gold Coast beaches ... Not

even my busy role as the mascot can keep me from sneaking in some surfing before work. I love checking out the Gold Coast beaches, they’re the best in the world and I’m kinda a big deal here, you know.

On launching his stage show ...

It was just so exciting presenting the world premiere of the Borobi and the Mascoteers Show, my very own show to keep all of my fans happy. I don’t like to blow my own horn, but it really was about time I took centre stage with my celebrity friends and it was great when the crowd gave me the two thumbs up.

On visiting Buckingham Palace ...

I’m going all the way to the top! What a stage to dance on and honour to celebrate the start of #QBR2018 with Her Majesty The Queen at Buckingham Palace.

On visiting sick children in the hospital ...

I have the best job. It warmed my heart visiting all my fans and bringing a big Borobi hug and two thumbs up to their day.

On the SupaNova parade ...

That’s the life of an A-list koala; convertibles, cosplay and adoring fans!
