Miller and Harbrow to return for Suns

- TOM BOSWELL

TOUK Miller is set to replace injured Gold Coast Suns midfielder Michael Barlow for the clash against St Kilda on Saturday and Jarrod Harbrow is in line to join him.

Miller missed the club’s Round 12 win over Hawthorn with illness and was absent from the weekend loss to Carlton with an ankle problem.

The 21-year-old’s return alongside Harbrow, who has served his two-game suspension for drink-driving, couldn’t be more timely as the Suns try to fill the void left by Barlow who broke his fibula on the weekend.

Gold Coast could also be without experienced wingman Matt Rosa who is facing a suspension for striking Carlton’s Dale Thomas in the third quarter on Saturday.

The Suns will decide today whether they will appeal against the decision or accept a one-game ban.

“Touk is really confident he will be available to play this weekend and also Jarrod Harbrow is available to play,” Suns football manager Marcus Ashcroft said.

“While Mick goes out we have got some experience and talent to come back in.

“We are looking forward to getting Jarrod back into the team. He has been a great contributor so far this year – he has been in our best three or four players.”

Ashcroft said Barlow was in a good headspace after having surgery on his left leg on Sunday and the club would look to give him a coaching role as part of their bid to retain his valuable input with the.

“Our player development team will certainly give him the care and support he needs,” Ashcroft said.

“For Mick it’s about making sure he is involved in the club as much as he can be.

“He has been a great leader for us on field and off it. “

Barlow broke the same leg in 2010 while playing for Fremantle but Ashcroft said his latest break wasn’t as serious.
