Hunt back in top side for Broncos

-

BEN Hunt’s demotion to reserve grade has been short-lived, with the Brisbane playmaker recalled for Saturday’s NRL clash with Canberra.

Hunt was sensationally dumped for the side’s last start against South Sydney but is back in Wayne Bennett’s 17 to face the Raiders at GIO Stadium due to Anthony Milford’s dislocated shoulder.

After spending a week with the Ipswich Jets in the Queensland Cup, Hunt has been named on the bench with Kodi Nikorima and veteran fiveeighth Benji Marshall to start in the halves.

Milford is expected to miss six weeks due to injury.

Meanwhile, North Queensland recruit Te Maire Martin is set for a possible showdown with his old club Penrith just days after exiting the foot of the mountains.

The Kiwis Test half has been named on an extended bench and could run out if Johnathan Thurston or Michael Morgan don’t recover following State of Origin II.

Martin was granted a release last week by Penrith. He had fallen out of favour with coaching staff and was outside the club’s top 22.
