Diagnosis tool trial

AUSTRALIAN developed technology using automation to rapidly diagnose infectious diseases is set for a hospital laboratory trial.

Medical technology group LBT Innovations has developed the so-called Automated Plate Assessment System Independence instrument.

It automatically analyses and interprets growth on microbiology culture plates, the group says, enabling faster and more efficient diagnosis and reporting of infectious diseases.

The product will be trialled at St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne from September.
