Kumble quits over Kohli

ANIL Kumble claims an “untenable partnership’’ with captain Virat Kohli meant he could no longer carry on as head coach of India.

The 46-year-old led India to the Champions Trophy final in London, where they lost to Pakistan.

Kumble had taken on the role a year ago, guiding India to 12 wins from 17 Tests with just one defeat.

He posted a statement on his personal social media accounts to reveal a rift with Kohli was behind his decision not to seek reappointment.
