WINGING IT TO RAISE FUNDS FOR A WORTHY CAUSE

IF hot wings, BYO and raising money for charity are on your list of things you love, you’ll find all three at one place tomorrow.

Burleigh Social is throwing a World’s Greatest Shave charity soiree tomorrow in aid of the Leukaemia Foundation and the main event is a hot one.

“We’re doing a hot wing challenge where challengers will have to eat five of our specially made hot wings – no water, no milk and they can’t eat or drink anything for five minutes afterwards,” Burleigh Social’s Emily Smith said. “The wing sauce is made with ghost chillies, California reapers, jalapeños and chilli extract.

“It’s really just intended to lift the mood and have a laugh – the competitors won’t be laughing but everyone else will.”

Burleigh Social employee Sumara Rogers, who is bravely having her hair shaved on the night, will donate her luscious locks to a wig charity.

“It’s awesome to see the local community come together and donating to a good cause,” Ms Smith said.

“We’ve got Black Hops Brewing, DCQ Constructions, Scoop Gelati and Apparel Collective on board, Rump on the Run are the meat sponsors and Shipwreck Barbers are doing the actual chop.

“If we can celebrate and raise money at the same time then why not?”
