Premier bids for leading role in LA

- SARAH VOGLER

PREMIER Annastacia Palaszczuk will hit the streets of Hollywood today as she attempts to lure more film and television productions to our shores.

Ms Palaszczuk, who is in the midst of a week-long US trade mission, flew into Los Angeles last night ahead of two days of meetings with industry executives.

“I want another blockbuster for Queensland,” Ms Palaszczuk said of the visit.

“We need to be looking at what’s next after the Commonwealth Games.

“This (trade mission) will be the start of discussions.

“We want something soon as we possibly can.”

Ms Palaszczuk will be meeting with companies including Disney, Netflix, ABC International, Sony and production company RatPac.

“Our track record speaks for itself,” she said.

“Queensland has attracted major films in the past few years, including Aquaman and Thor: Ragnarok.

“That’s because we’ve been actively involved with the industry, letting them know why they should film in Queensland. I’m going to keep doing that because it means more jobs for Queenslanders.”

Ms Palaszczuk said she believed producers loved filming in the state. “They love the scenery, the people,” she said.

Ms Palaszczuk said the state was also continuing its push for the Federal Government to increase the tax incentive it offers major film studios. as
