Stars in eyes at loo stop

SHE’S worked with Ryan Gosling in The Nice Guys, is in the upcoming Spider-Man reboot and counts Nicole Kidman as a co-star in her latest movie, The Beguiled.

But Australian teenager Angourie Rice had a pinchyourself moment in the bathroom at the Cannes Film Festival ... involving Star Trek and Wonder Woman heartthrob Chris Pine.

“I was going to the toilet and I physically bumped into Chris Pine, like I actually walked into him,” Rice said.

“And I went, ‘oh sorry!’. Then I went, wait a second, that was Chris Pine. It was bizarre. I think that was the only time I went, ‘this is crazy’.”

Melbourne-based Rice, 16, stars alongside Kidman, Colin Farrell, Kirsten Dunst and Elle Fanning in The Beguiled, director Sofia Coppola’s gothic-inspired remake of the 1971 Clint Eastwood film. Rice walked the red carpet with her co-stars at Cannes last month, where Coppola became the second woman to win Best Director.

Rice said the red carpet at Cannes was “really intense”.

“I was next to Colin (Farrell) and he kind of just whispered something to me, like ‘oh this is bizarre, isn’t it?’,” Rice said.

“And I’m like, ‘yep’.” Many of her scenes in The Beguiled were shared with Kidman, who is in careerbest form playing stern school mistress Miss Martha, the head of the Farnsworth Seminary for Young Ladies.

Despite her rising career, Rice is still in high school and is thinking about an exam, not a red carpet, this week.

“I think I have to analyse pictures and write an essay about it,” Rice said, with a laugh. “Right now, my most immediate concern is my exam.”
