Chaves looks to stun field

ESTEBAN Chaves has always been one to find light in the darkest of places. It’s why the leader for Australian team Orica-Scott isn’t letting a limited preparation wipe the smile off his face ahead of the Tour de France.

Knee tendonitis, seven weeks off the bike and no racing in five months has stunted a season that promised much. He’s hoping having no expectations could work in his favour.

“We will go day by day and you don’t know what’s going to happen over 21 days,” Chaves said.
