• EMDs have a blue switch on their desk to signal to their supervisor they need “time out” after a distressing call.

• “Triggers” are incidents which cause an EMD distress. These can be based on personal experiences.

• EMDs can talk to each other about distressing incidents but also have access to a peer group, plus specially trained psychologists.
