Tia foster dad faces trial
TIAHLEIGH Palmer’s foster father Rick Thorburn has been committed to stand trial for the Queensland schoolgirl’s murder.
Thorburn is accused of killing 12-year-old Tiahleigh, whose body was discovered on the banks of the Pimpama River six days after she went missing in October 2015.
The 57-year-old successfully applied for a registry committal application at Beenleigh Magistrates Court on the murder charge yesterday.
He was also committed to stand trial on a count of interfering with a corpse.
Thorburn was arrested and charged in September 2016, almost a year after Tiahleigh’s body was found. No further date has yet been fixed.
