Airbnb a high earner
AIRBNB is now generating about $330 million in Queensland each year and is responsible for 133,000 stays, according to a report by Deloitte.
The report, commissioned by Airbnb, found substantial growth in the use of the internet-based booking platform since it started in Queensland in 2012. More than half a million guest nights were booked in 2015-16 in Queensland accommodating about 350,000 guests.
Of the $330 million spent, Deloitte said about $217 million was value added. Airbnb hosts earned a median $4700 a year from the platform, which Deloitte described as a modest supplement to income.
