Godolphin questioned

-

FORMER Godolphin trainer John O’Shea has denied telling a vet he did not want to report a case of the notifiable infection strangles to stewards.

Racing NSW stewards yesterday adjourned an inquiry into the non-reporting of a case of strangles in a bid to clarify a contentious timeline concerning Polemic’s diagnosis last August.

Chief steward Marc Van Gestel requested Godolphin Australia managing director Henry Plumptre produce phone records of former Godolphin vet Dr Graham Adams, who swabbed Polemic after he was found to have an elevated temperature and an abscess under his jaw.

Adams gave evidence from Ireland via telephone but was vague on the time he learned Polemic had tested positive to the contagious bacterial infection, also known as Strep Equi.

The communication timeline shapes as crucial after Godolphin vet Dr Trevor Robson said he was notified by Adams of the diagnosis the day before laboratory Vetnostics emailed the results on Friday, August 5.
