New call for extra cops

A CALL for more police officers at Runaway Bay has been renewed by LNP candidate for Broadwater David Crisafulli in the wake of Tuesday’s tragic suicide pact deaths.

The Bulletin revealed earlier this month almost half of the 24 positions at the Runaway Bay station were filled.

Mr Crisafulli said the triple death would only put more stress on officers.

“This week’s tragic event means local police will spend time conducting a necessary investigation,” he said.

“But it means resources that could otherwise be used protecting our community are off the road.”

Two officers have been assigned to the station since in the past week brining the total number of officers up to 13.
