MIAMI VET PURR-FECT CHOICE FOR TV ROLE

- KRISTY MUIR

DOCTOR Rich Seymour thinks he is the purr-fect person to host Bondi Vet 2.0.

The Miami veterinarian is one of three Gold Coast animal doctors vying to replace popular host Chris Brown on the fly-on-the-wall TV show.

At the end of the week five vets will be chosen from a short-list of 50. Casuarina Seaside Vet clinic’s Andy Pieris and former Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary doctor Claire Madden are also in the running for the role.

“I am really passionate about animal health,” said Dr Rich. “I will be sincere and also think I will be very entertaining.

“I’ve grown up performing and entertaining. They are different to acting on TV though. I have never done any acting classes ... maybe I should have.”

Dr Rich has spent a decade working as a veterinarian on the Gold Coast.

The 34-year-old said he knew he wanted to be a vet from the age of 10 after a “sad visit” to a local clinic with his childhood cat Shadow.

He has a “a special interest in behavioural medicine, and caring for geriatric pets” which he would showcase if he was chosen as the next Bondi Vet.

Dr Rich said filming the show in Miami would be great exposure for the city.

“The Gold Coast is better than Bondi,” he said.

The new Bondi Vet will be announced in August.
