Cop cars see red in Games lead-up

THE Coast’s top cops say the city will be crawling with police during the 2018 Commonwealth Games but no squad cars will stick out quite like these.

Covered in bright red and orange Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games branding, the refitted squad cars were officially handed over this week as part of a campaign by the government and police to remind motorists of the importance of obeying road rules during the Games.

“It’s a constant reminder of our high visibility focus when it comes to road safety,” Police Minister Mark Ryan said. The fully operational vehicles will travel around the State in the lead-up to the Games to promote road safety and will be on display at other events including next month’s Townsville 400 V8 Supercars race.

Coast police cars have been rebranded for the Games.
