Police dog injured in chase

A MAN has undergone surgery after allegedly leading police on a wild chase through Tweed Heads that ended with a police dog being assaulted.

Police spotted the 27-yearold driving a car with no numberplates around 11am on Tuesday and ordered him to get out of the vehicle but he ran off, sparking the chase.

The dog was not seriously injured and no charges had been laid last night.
