THE UNIVERSE IS THEIRS TONIGHT

THE Gold Coast’s Miss Universe Australia finalists are trying to contain their nerves ahead of judging in Melbourne tonight.

Chelsey Nichols and Monique Evren have been undergoing last minute runway rehearsals, public speaking classes and body language lessons as they vie for the right to represent Australia in the pageant.

Griffith University law and arts graduate Ms Nichols, 22, said while the runway rehearsals were “a blast” with the other 30 finalists, she was anxious about public speaking.

“If you make it into the top 10 you get asked a question at random and you get judged on your ability to answer it,” she said.

“I’ve been studying and planning my answers but the whole process has been so fun from start to finish.”

Gold Coast Doorland worker Ms Evren, 19, said the fitness regimen ahead of the Australian final was “cruisy”.

“You’d think we would have a strict fitness routine and diet but not at all,” she said.

“Even hair and makeup is done fairly quickly because there’s so many of us.”

Miss Universe Australia finals will be held at the Sofitel on Collins in Melbourne tonight.
