Net catches ‘fraudsters’

A LATVIAN couple have briefly faced court accused of defrauding Australians of more than $250,000 through fake shopping websites.

Aleksandrs Gorikijis, 27, and Anastasija Sveinika, 25, allegedly offered goods such as furniture, barbecues and fitness equipment through 28 different websites but never delivered them. They allegedly obtained $252,000 from more than 200 people. The accused were refused bail to reappear in a Brisbane court next month.
