Key mine back in action
NEWCREST Mining has partially restarted operations at a key gold and copper mine that was shut down after an earthquake in April.
Australia’s biggest gold miner said that it had restarted ore extraction on a test basis after authorities lifted a prohibition notice and all remediation work was completed at the site.
It hoped to resume normal operations at the underground Panel Cave 2 at Cadia East, west of Bathurst in New South Wales, after two to four weeks of testing.
