Coast fight for trophy supremacy
MARYMOUNT College have dominated the battle of the Gold Coast schools to progress to rugby league’s Confraternity Trophy decider with a 32-0 win over Aquinas College.
Coached by former Melbourne Storm NRL veteran Matt Geyer, Marymount brushed aside their semi-final opponents to book a place in today’s final against Emmaus College, Rockhampton, to be held from 12.30pm at Padua College in Brisbane.
The Trophy is the 48-team carnival’s second-tier, only below the Confraternity Shield. Aquinas will take on Ipswich’s St Peter Claver College in the Trophy third place playoff.
Merrimac-based St Michael’s College will this morning play St Joseph’s College, from Toowoomba, in the third place playoff of the third-tier Plate.
