Colleen’s hugs, sweat and tears

-

THE finish line of the half marathon was in sight when Colleen Kleinschmidt burst into tears.

And she kept crying all the way to her husband Tristan who was waiting for her on the other side of it.

It was an emotional time for the couple who finished 21 minutes apart.

Mrs Kleinschmidt finished in 2:06.52 while her husband finished in 01:45.29.

“It was a pretty amazing feeling to know I did it,” Mrs Kleinschmidt said.

“My husband inspired me to do the half marathon.

“It is my first one ... I am happy with my time.”

Mr Kleinschmidt is halfway through his challenge of completing 12 half marathons to raise awareness for mental health.

The Brisbane man said he was chuffed he and his wife had managed to finish so close together.

“I am so proud of her,” Mr Kleinschmidt said.

Mrs Kleinschmidt said: “I thought if Tristan can do 12, I can at least do one.”
