Spida v Hannant: Who won marathon?

THE battle of the Gold Coast radio jocks has delivered a stunning upset for the bookies. Following a week of smack talk on the airwaves, rugby league player-turned-Sea FM announcer Ben Hannant faced off against former AFL star-turned-Gold FM announcer Spida Everitt in the Gold Coast Airport Marathon. Everitt was the hot favourite to beat his radio rival with sportsbet listing Everitt as a $1.50 favourite to win over Hannant who was paying $2.50 to win.

Japanese dominate Coast marathon

JAPANESE runners have taken out the full and half marathons on the Gold Coast today in scintillat­ing speeds. Takuya Noguchi was the first of nearly 6000 runners across the line in the marathon, finishing the 42km in a time of 2hrs 8 mins 57 seconds. Last year’s winner Kenneth Mungara came second in a time of 2:09:01 and Yuki Kawauchi - also a past winner was third at 2:09:15.

GOLD Coast sports bars and clubs are gearing up to host one of the biggest boxing bouts in Australia’s history. On Sunday boxing greats Manny Pacquiao and Australian­born Jeff Horn will go fist to fist at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane as they battle for the title of WBO World Welterweig­ht.
