Alleged machete attackers wanted revenge
TWO men charged over a violent robbery that left a Coombabah mother with horrific facial injuries after being sliced with a machete have appeared in a Gold Coast court.
Stepbrothers Clint Hall, 35, and Thomas Ealam, 18, faced the Southport Magistrates Court yesterday charged with two counts of acts intended to maim and stealing following the early Saturday morning attack that left Ingrid Brown, 35, with a mouth-to-ear gash.
The two men allegedly tried to steal copper wire from a Kangaroo Av worksite alongside Ms Brown's property about 2am before being approached by the victim and her partner Michael Liddell.
Police allege the pair had an altercation with Hall and Ealam before the stepbrothers left.
It is believed Hall was allegedly hit with a shovel during the original altercation. Less than two hours later the pair are accused of returning to Ms Brown and Mr Liddell’s home, adjoining the worksite, armed with machetes.
During the alleged attack Mr Liddell suffered a cut to his forearm, while Ms Brown’s face was seriously slashed, requiring major reconstructive surgery.
Hall made no application for bail and was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on September 12.
Ealam also made no application for bail and will appear in court again on Wednesday.
