IT’S the best sort of hollow victory for Gold Coast master jeweller Guy Abrahamsson who has won a national award for his Hollow Halo ring.

Mr Abrahamsson’s Palm Beach Jewellers Workshop Gallery snagged the Pink Diamond category of the Jewellery Design Awards with a 79 diamond, two-tone masterpiece valued at $30,000.

Mr Abrahamsson said while the winning design may not be to everyone’s taste, its originality went a long way in front of a judging panel.

“Just because we do things that are a little unusual it’s not always to everyone’s taste but in a way that makes our pieces stand out more and it’s paid off in winning that award,” he said.

“It was a total surprise and a great achievement for a local jeweller to get recognised nationally.”

The jewellery store also won the Men’s Jewellery category with a rusty gold design.
