Surfer’s back injury

A SURFER was flown to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane with severe back injuries following a wipeout off South Stradbroke Island yesterday.

The Rescue 500 helicopter retrieved the man from the Seaway rock wall after passersby called emergency services just before 2pm.

It is beleived the surfer was injured when he hit the sea floor.

Surfers said the waves yesterday were not large.
