IT’S NOW OR NEVER FOR STUEY

IT’S now or never for 19 Elvis impersonators as they battle it out for the chance to compete in the King’s beloved Memphis, Tennessee.

The “Elvi” are on the Gold Coast for the sixth annual VIVA Surfers Paradise festival that kicks off tomorrow with performances throughout the Glitter Strip.

Stuey V has been impersonating Elvis Presley for just two years but is determined to take out top place in the Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist Contest.

“This week was actually my two year anniversary of impersonating Elvis. I started after meeting (Gold Coast impersonator) Dean Vegas,” he said.

“We became friends and he became like a mentor to me. Then one time he got me up on stage and I’ve never looked back.

“I have a new outfit that I won’t wear until the competition and I’m planning to do a mix of early Elvis, ballads ... and the finale has to be kept a secret.”

The winning Elvis gets a trip to Memphis for Elvis Week 2017.

The free festival runs until July 16 and includes car shows and the chance to renew wedding vows, with the King officiating.
