Parole rules toughened
ASSAULTS on prison staff and criminal or terrorism intelligence must now be considered before granting a prisoner parole in Queensland.
Corrective Services Minister Mark Ryan released the new ministerial guidelines to the Parole Board Queensland yesterday, labelling them “very robust and practical”.
“They’re all about prioritising community safety and reducing risk,” he said.
Previously, a prisoner’s behaviour in jail was taken into account when considering parole but not necessarily their actions towards staff.
