It’s all tweet now at the Bombers

-

ESSENDON coach John Worsfold says chief executive Xavier Campbell’s controversial post-game tweet summed up his own feelings and he didn’t need to apologise for it.

While Worsfold conceded some players may have been offended by the post, he thought it was a fair assessment of the Bombers’ embarrassing last quarter against Brisbane.

After the game, Campbell tweeted: “Not good enough. Not even close. Fans deserve so much better. 41,000 came out today and we let you down.”

He later apologised after some senior players took offence to the post, though Worsfold did not.

“When I saw it I pretty much said that sums up how we all feel,” Worsfold said.

“He didn’t apologise to me, he didn’t need to. I immediately said to him: ‘Mate, that sums up where we are all at’.

“Xavier’s (tweet) was about how we let our fans down. We felt like we did let our fans down. But we let ourselves down as well. We let the club down in that performance.”

He suggested some players had issues with the tweet, but said clubs were made up of different opinions.
