Jake bids farewell to brave Chillie

-

A GOLD Coast dog owner has said his final goodbye to his best friend Chillie the Akita after the loyal pooch lost his battle with a neurological deficit.

Yesterday Jake Lemon made the difficult decision to euthanise Achilles, known as Chillie, on the American Akita’s 11th birthday.

Just one week ago Mr Lemon created a device to allow Chillie to walk again, as reported in the Bulletin.

Mr Lemon said his death was still “a little tender,” with the neurological deficit having started to affect Chillie’s mental and physical health.

He said the purebred pup was loved by all and he “shed lots of fur over everybody”.

“Chillie was horrible at playing fetch,” Mr Lemon said.

“He wondered why he had to get the ball when you threw it. Achilles loved to be included in whatever we were doing, he was happy so long as he was nearby watching us.

“I was glad to have bought him a precious seven days of extra mobility and walkies.”

Mr Lemon said Chillie’s ashes would be scattered in important areas around the region.
