BLAZE OF GLORY

- KRISTY MUIR

The Gold Coast turned on the ultimate weather for the final day of school holidays. Winter? What winter? The sun blazed down delivering perfect conditions to get out and about on wheels, feet and paws.

IT IS hard to believe it is winter when the weather is warm enough to melt your ice cream quicker than you can eat it.

But that is exactly what happened to Jack and Samantha Wilkes and their neighbour Mitchell Hosking at the Broadwater Parklands yesterday.

The good news is this “typical” Gold Coast winter weather will stick around for the next couple of days before a brief stint of rain.

“We had so much fun at the park,” Jack, 8, from Oxenford said. “I liked the bike track and the large jumping pillow best.”

The kids were enjoying their “last day of freedom” on holidays before returning to school today.

A Weatherzone spokesman told the Bulletin today would be dry with a minimum of 11C and a high staying around the low 20s.

“It is fairly standard winter weather (for the Gold Coast),” he said.

However, midweek we will see rain clouds developing with showers continuing until Friday.

The spokesman said the coming weekend was expected to be sunny.
