CHARITY BALL FOR 10 YEARS OF TITANS
ASH Taylor broke from Camp Maroon to celebrate with his teammates and a who’s who of the Gold Coast at the Titans 10-Year Anniversary Gala Charity Ball on Saturday night.
Yesterday morning Taylor looked fresh faced as he started a long day of training with the State of Origin team at Sanctuary Cove.
Titans CEO Graham Annesley told the Bulletin the sold-out event had been a huge success.
“It was a great night,” he said. “The ladies dressed to the nines and the guys had their dinner suits on.”
Mr Annesley said the money raised from the evening would go to domestic violence charity White Ribbon.
“Domestic violence is a massive issue across the nation, particularly on the Gold Coast,” he said.
“We felt on this occasion we would like to help people who suffer at the hands of domestic violence on the Gold Coast.”
Mr Annesley said the ball marked a significant milestone for the Titans.
“We are only a very young club ... hopefully we will have many more decades to come,” he said.
While the tally of what was raised may be a couple of weeks away, the big ticket raffle items sold on the night included an Audi Q2 ($42,500), a holiday to South Africa ($13,000) and 25 per cent of a racehorse ($18,000). The last item was picked up by commentator and former NRL player Matty Johns.
