BUMPER CROWD AT PAW-FECT PET EXPO
Deadly Ninja off to a flyer
JACK ‘Deadly Ninja’ Wilson is the “one to watch” in Channel 9’s new series Ninja Warrior Australia.
The 24-year-old Gold Coaster was the first to complete the course in the first episode and in under two minutes.
When asked how it felt to complete the course, Mr Wilson said: “Pretty deadly, eh.”
Mr Wilson’s 1min 40sec run was a “text book display” what it takes to make through the competition.
The proud Kalkadoon man, who grew up in North West Queensland, wore budgy smugglers and paid homage to his heritage by painting his body with indigenous markings.
The Ninja Warrior commentators noted the crowd was “in awe” of Mr Wilson’s of it performance and that they were behind him through the whole course.
Mr Wilson, a marathon runner and carpenter, loves swimming and surfing and is a trainer at AMPM HQ studios at Miami.
All competitors, male and female, tackle the same obstacles in five heats, three semi-finals and a grand final. IT was animal magic at the Gold Coast Pet Expo at the weekend, with an estimated 26,000 attending, according to RSPCA Queensland.
The organisation held the event for the first time at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre. Spokesman Michael Beatty said the turnout exceeded expectations with thousands making a gold coin donation to see more than 150 pet exhibitors, live entertainment and animal shows which included dogs jumping off a dock into a pool.
“We were expecting 20,000 people through the gates – we had a really good reception,” Mr Beatty said.
“It wasn’t a ticketed event so we don’t know exactly how many people turned up but we guess about 26,000.
“We’ll definitely be back next year bigger and better.”
